Air conditioning vent

Before OK Go came on stage, I wandered around O’Fallon’s Heritage and Freedom Festival with my free fan provided by a Baptist Church and ride tickets with bible verses on back to ask people why they were in O’Fallon instead of at the Arch. As you can tell by this photo, I developed a crush on the air conditioning vent piping sweet, chilled bliss into the cooling tent. They wouldn’t let me crawl inside, not even when I said I was reenacting a scene from E.T. WordPress won’t let me embed proprietary Patch videos, so you’ll have to click here…

American Idol Auditions in St. Louis

I can now personally confirm that Ryan Seacrest is in fact such a wee man that if I was skinned alive you could fit two of him inside my remains. I’m not suggesting he’s the kind of guy who makes girls put the lotion on their skin before they get the hose again, but I will say there was a surreal atmosphere at the American Idol auditions. We spoke with around 15 eager participants in order to make this video, after which I seriously questioned the wisdom of ever wearing that dress again. Since I can’t embed Patch videos, you’ll…

Tis the season for people who have never met me in person to criticize me for not giving Chicago enough of a chance. Rather than get into a flame war on Facebook I’m going to address it here at plenty of length and be done with it. There is a Chicago where you park your car and ride the train to work. After a few weeks, you realize the only time you get in your car is to move it for street cleaning or snow days. You don’t need it, because your neighborhood bar is two blocks away (there are…

People ask for signs. Please, they beg whoever is listening, give me a clear message what I should do. Fight, flee. Love, leave. Stay, go. Ten days ago I woke to the sound of children screaming as the drug dealer upstairs was noisily arrested. In the process, his children were taken away by child protective services. It was a ghastly hour of forced voyeurism. A few days later someone smashed through the driver’s side window of my car and looted its contents. Friday night, a man on one of those trendy tiny bikes circled laps around me for my entire…
